How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive.  Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site.  Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual.  The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.

We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used.  This helps us analyse data about webpage traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs.  We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not.  A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.

You can choose to accept or decline cookies.  Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer.  This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.

Links to other websites

Jabbering contains links to other websites of interest.  However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website.  Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement.  You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

Controlling your personal information

You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information in the following ways:

  • if you have previously left a blog post comment, you may request removal of the blog post comment by emailing us at hello[at]
  • If you subscribe to the Jabbering updates you can unsubscribe at any point by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the message.  You will not be contacted again unless you choose to opt back in.

As a responsible blogger I must point out that occasionally you will see selected advertising, paid for links, or review posts on Jabbering.   In the interests of disclosure I accept payment or other forms of compensation for these posts.

I don’t take every offer that comes my way though – I believe in honesty and integrity – so I only work with advertisers or brands that I believe in, and think might be of interest to you, the reader.  Any such posts will be labelled as being a sponsored or review post.

Even though I receive compensation for such posts or advertisements, I always give my honest opinions, findings, beliefs, or experiences on those topics or products.  I don’t believe in regurgitating press releases for the sake of blog content, so all words and opinions will always be my own.

From time to time I may use affiliate links in posts, where I get a very small (tiny!) amount of commission if you buy anything from a website using that link.  Using an affiliate link doesn’t affect the price you pay or your rights as a buyer – it just means I get a tiny bonus which helps towards running costs of Jabbering (web hosting, domain name, purchasing resources for posts, etc).  I don’t hide any affiliate links in my posts – all affiliate links will be clearly identifiable by a * mark after the affiliate link.

I only link to products or pages I genuinely believe in; that I would use myself; that I would have linked to even in the absence of an affiliate link; and that I think would be of interest to you, the reader.  There are also selected adverts from affiliates in my sidebar.

Jabbering is also a participant in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to,

As with most websites Jabbering installs cookies (small internet files) onto your computer.  Don’t worry about this – more than 90% of websites do this in order to function properly.  EU regulations state that a website must disclose this.  Cookies don’t retain any of your personal information and mainly track your internet habits.  If you wish you can opt out of cookies here
