5 amazing comics I read online as an escapism

stack of books on white fabric

It might not sound very grown-up to read comics but it is I promise. I also don’t care what you think they are my escapism. I enjoy that I can wake up and quickly read something while having my first sips of coffee.

So here is my list of 5-ish comics

Questionable Content (QC)

The brainchild of Jeph Jacques, the comic Questionable Content https://www.questionablecontent.net is about friendship, romance and robots. We follow best buddies Marten and Faye as they navigate life. I found QC around 2010 – 2011 and spend a good couple of month catching up. There are currently 4436 strips which seems quite daunting. The Artist recommends newcomers starting at 3500 as it is the start of the current arc.

xkcd

xkcd is a comic drawn by Randal Munroe https://xkcd.com. I am not sure how to explain this comic it is one that you just need to read and get into.

Some comics are very simple, and some so niche that there are probably entire university departments dedicated to understanding them.

Below is one of my favourites.

Grownups

Always read on the website to find the hovers text.

Savage Chickens

According to the Author. “Savage Chickens began on a rainy day in October 2004 when, after one too many migraines, I scribbled two chickens on a sticky note. It was fun, so I kept drawing them and a few months later in January 2005, I posted them online”

I like the simple humour of these comics, they always seem to hit the nail on the head for my thought. https://www.savagechickens.com

Poorly Drawn Lines

Poorly drawn lines is drawn by Reza Farazmand and is an eclectic mix of items. Sometimes the humour is quite dark. I think Turtle is probably my favourite character.

Each of these comics stands on its own so just press the random button and see what you get.

Comics recommended by you

A while back there was a 5th comic. I use to read a comic call, Alice Grove, also by Jeph Jacques but sadly that ended. This was housed on Tumblr but there is now an archive on the QC site https://www.questionablecontent.net/alice1.html.

This means there is a space in my 5 Comics I read. If you read online comics why not make a suggestion in the comment below on what is worth checking out.
