What I read in 2022 – what books make the cut in 2022

It is that time of year to look back at the running log of books I have read. I keep a complete list in my “projects” where I have been tracking what I have read since 2015

2022 had significantly more travelling in 2021 however I found that despite this I still only managed to get 2 physical books read. Maybe 2023 will be the year to increase that as a challenge.

That said 2022 was a good year. and I managed to read 19 books but did not pass the record of 22 books consumed in 2021

The top 4 books

So what were my 2022 gems?

The Maid by Nita Prose – this book has an interesting twist that I did not see coming. The story centres on Molly, a hardworking maid with exacting standards who works at the Regency Grand Hotel. The more you learn about Molly, the more you see that Molly sees the world in a different way.
A bit of a stretch by Chris Atkins. A very funny read, however, the book will your reading will turn to deep despair. The book gives a must-read insight into the British prison system “where it is easier to get ‘spice’ than paracetamol”
Mythos by Stephen Fry. Steven Fry the consummate storyteller takes the reader on “a romp through the lived of the ancient greek Gods.” I read this book as an audiobook and I was immersed in the stories like I was sitting around a campfire being told them by a wonderful narrator.
Immune by Philipp Dettmer the books is described as “A gorgeously-illustrated deep dive into the immune system that will forever change how you think about your body – how it works and why it is both your greatest ally and most dangerous enemy – from the creator of the popular science YouTube channel Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell.” I could not agree more it was an excellent insight into the immune system.
